TaxExplainer Pro ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension handles information when you use it.

1. Information We Collect

TaxExplainer Pro collects minimal information necessary to provide the service:

License key: Stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API to activate the extension. We store a record of issued license keys tied to your Stripe payment session and email address.
Page content: When you click "Explain this page," the visible text of the current tab is sent to our servers for AI processing. This content is not logged or stored after processing.
Email address: Collected by Stripe at checkout and stored in our license database solely for support purposes.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect browsing history
We do not collect personal tax data or client information
We do not sell your data to third parties
We do not use cookies or tracking pixels
We do not collect data from pages you visit where you have not clicked "Explain this page"

3. How We Use Information

Page content sent to our servers is used solely to generate AI-powered explanations. It is transmitted securely, processed immediately, and not retained. We use your email address only to provide customer support and send license key information.

4. Third-Party Services

Anthropic: Page content is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI API to generate explanations. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing.
Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card information. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
Supabase: License key records are stored in Supabase's hosted database infrastructure.
Cloudflare: Our API requests are routed through Cloudflare Workers.

5. Data Security

All data transmission between the extension and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Your license key is stored locally on your device and validated server-side. We do not store page content after processing.

6. Data Retention

License key records are retained as long as your subscription is active and for up to 90 days after cancellation for support purposes. Page content sent for AI processing is not retained after the response is generated.

7. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your license record and email address at any time by emailing support@taxexplainerpro.com. Deleting your record will deactivate your license key.

8. Children's Privacy

TaxExplainer Pro is designed for tax professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
